What they are saying....
The Copper Fish clientele quickly become the Copper Fish family. Repeat visits, frequent phone calls, events planned....we get to know you! Here is what a few of our folks have to say about us...

"Excellent Restaurant!"
We both work in the restaurant business and continue to go back to the Copper Fish. We have several favorites and this is one of them. We have gone several times for our anniversary, Valentines, etc. The food has always been excellent. The chef personally visits tables when possible and knows people by name. We definitely recommend the Chilean Seabass, Lobster Risotto, Sea Scallops, and Crabcake sliders when on the menu. I have read a couple reviews regarding service but we have not come across that problem. A definite gem in Cape May!

Fantastic Seafood - With Personality
My foodie husband and I just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Cape May Food and Wine Festival where we both had the opportunity to take a cooking class with Chef Geoff Johnson, chef/owner of the Copper Fish. We couldn't wait to try his restaurant for dinner and were truly impressed. It's hard to go wrong food-wise in Cape May, but our dinners at the Copper Fish were a rare treat. Chef Geoff seeks out little known, eclectic seafoods and prepares them in wonderful new ways that really tempt the palate. He combines common spices and super-fresh ingredients with a new twist to create fabulous combinations that really enhance his dishes. It's rare for us to be wowed by every new bite, but indeed, we were. He and his waitstaff are full of personality. The restaurant decor is nautically elegant with pretty view of the marina and an inglenook fireplace. Chef Geoff is generous and open in sharing his recipes, but I'm sure he's got a lot more up his sleeves. The only drawback: the Copper Fish is just outside of town, so you really need to drive and can't stagger back to your B&B after consuming your BYOB bottle of wine. We'll definitely be back!

“Wow were coming back for sure
Definitely a diamond in the rough. The ambiance was excellent, The seafood was awesome. The calamari was the best I have ever had, and I live on the beach in Florida! We didn't wait long and the hostess must have owned the place because thats how she treated us (even though she was slammed!). There all professionals here. The food was delivered in awesome presentation. We felt under dressed once the food arrived! Were will be back!!!!!!

So Wonderful -we ate there twice during our 1 week stay!
We dined at the Copper Fish during the 3rd week of August 2008 and it was so wonderful, that during our one week stay at Cape May we ate there twice. I explained to Chef Geoffrey while making our reservation the 2nd time, that he spoiled us—all the other restaurants that we ate at in Cape May paled in comparison.

As far as the ambiance—some of the other Cape May restaurants were so noisy that we had to yell across the table to each other in order to have a conversation. Not so at the Copper Fish; although it was busy ( I would recommend making reservations during the summer months) we were able to enjoy the eclectic background music and each other’s conversations. Our waitress Juliette saw that we had our camera with us (after all we’re tourists) and offered to take our picture. So, did Scott, the host. Everyone there was very friendly and knowledgeable.

As for the food my fiancée loved the Scallops so much, that she ordered the exact same Scallop dish a 2nd time. I don’t know what the Chef does to these Scallops but they were absolutely the best Scallops we ever had. Not only were they done to perfection, they were extremely sweet. The various sauces that the Chef paired them with, such as Blueberry Merlot reduction did not overpower the dish (a mistake that many Chefs in my humble opinion make when it comes to seafood). I had Tuna Mignon the first time we dined here. This again was done to perfection; seared on the outside and extremely tender and flavorful throughout. My main entrée the 2nd time was the Grilled Turbot served over a Lobster cream sauce. This may have been one of the freshest pieces of fish I ever had! I am not one for creamy sauces, but yet again, the Chef knew not to overpower the subtleties of this wonderful fish with a heavy sauce. This sauce was light, with succulent pieces of perfectly prepared lobster throughout. All Desserts are homemade—we loved the house specialty—Napoleons—two slices of grilled pound cake caramelized on the outside with fresh berries and fresh whipped cream in between. Superb and Summery!

We are absolutely certain that when we come back to Cape May next year, we will be dining at the Copper Fish at least twice!
